Cork Weather: Blustery showers are the order of the week, but at least it’ll be mild

January is finally over.
But the weather is looking much the same for the first week in February, with the current mild, soggy conditions set to continue up until the weekend.
If you’re planning your daily stroll within 5km of home, it’ll be mainly dry for a short time this afternoon, but a band of heavy rain will move in from the Atlantic by the evening, with highest afternoon temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.
According to Met Éireann, it will be “wet and breezy” on Tuesday with frequent showers or longer spells of rain.
Mostly cloudy & rather damp today with scattered outbreaks of rain & drizzle. During this evening, heavy rain will develop in the southwest. A contrast in temperatures across the country with highs of 2-5C in northern areas but ranging 6-10C further south. https://t.co/9gKN6SVok4 pic.twitter.com/V3rQ2SVPOx

“Some of the showers may be thundery with hail. Highest temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees generally, with fresh southwesterly winds, strong to near gale and gusty on coasts.” said a forecaster.
The rest of the week will be “unsettled with wet and breezy conditions” although there will be another opportunity to get some exercise outdoors on Wednesday when the early afternoon will bring dry conditions and maybe even a little sunshine.
