5 limited edition festive treats you should really try to eat in Cork this week

By Katie Mythen-Lynch December 7, 2020December 7, 2020

The clock is ticking.

Cork’s best bakers and chefs have spent all year dreaming up new recipes to roll out in December and right now, all of their seasonal creations are waiting for you to try for a limited time only – there’s not a second to waste.

From mince pie rocky road to cranberry pastries and Ferrero Christmas log, there’s something new to try in every part of Cork between now and December 24th.

Here are five mouthwatering creations to sink your teeth into this week:

1. Mince pies two ways at My Goodness

My Goodness is making two kinds of mince pies this year; one baked and one raw. Both are handmade with sparkling apple ginger kombucha, fresh fruit, juice, and spices.

They’re probiotic, vegan and gluten-free too so you can legitimately have one as part of a healthy breakfast.

Here’s a list of spots you can pick them up.

2. Cranberry danishes at Diva

Spinning to Balllinspittle this week? Drop by the hatch at Diva in the middle of the village for one of their more extraordinary additions; the danish topped with sweetened cranberry on rich vanilla custard.

You can order speciality bread, hampers and a variety of goodies for Christmas too via their website.

3. Fill a box with Christmas canoli at Toons Bridge

You haven’t lived until you’ve sunk your teeth into a fresh cannoli and now you can get your fix of fried pastry shell and sweet ricotta cream filling in these new festive boxes for Christmas.

They’re a Sicilian staple.

Pick them up at the Dairy Shop in Toons Bridge or in the Dublin outlet on George’s Street.

4. Try the Rocky Road at Sober Lane

If you’ve never tried a Mince Pie Rocky Road, get yourself over to Sober Lane for a takeaway this week. The geniuses in the kitchen, also home to the World Famous Chicken Goujon, FYI, have given the popular dessert a Christmas makeover and it’s available for takeaway and delivery.

Add it to your order (€5.50) here.

5. Order the log at Cameron Bakery

Try to team a visit to Cameron Bakery on Washington Street with your stroll in town this week – you can now grab a slice of their Christmas log with your coffee.

You can order the full size for Christmas too in four flavours; Bounty & Ferrero, Fruity, Ferrero, Fruity & Triple Chocolate or Royal & Triple Chocolate.

Heavenly.
