Lovely Hurling: Cork’s ‘Sliotar Fairies’ will puck a spare ball into your garden

It’s a terrible time to lose a sliotar.
But with shops shut and sports clubs closed, Cork’s young hurling fans have been offered an emergency supply of the hurling balls… and they’ll even deliver to your garden for free.
The Castle Bar in Glanmire is located right next to Sarsfield’s GAA Club, which means plenty of lost sliotars end up in their car park.
Now they’re putting them to good use.
Owner Ronan Murphy has collected all the abandoned balls and is now offering to drive around Cork and put them in the front garden of anyone who needs them in a bid to help keep kids entertained and practicing their hurling skills during this tough period.
Speaking to parents on Facebook, Mr Murphy said: “If you’re at home with future hurling or camogie stars and they’d like a sliotar to practice their skills while school and training is out, just like and comment and let us know what age group your kids are playing with, DM us your name and Eircode and the sliotar fairies will puck a sliotar into your garden over the next 48 hours.”

Sarsfield’s Hurling Club and Sarsfield’s Camogie Club have added their support to the idea, topping up the collection of sliotars from the car part with an extra supply.
