It Takes A Village is BACK (and it’s so much more than just a music festival)

By Yay Cork April 2, 2019April 2, 2019

Brought to you by It Takes A Village.

Just five weeks out from the second installment of It Takes A Village, tickets are already hot property.

As well as an irresistible opportunity to get turned up in the childhood memory factory that is Trabolgan, the three-day festival (May 10th-12th, 2019) has a host of cool tricks up its sleeve, each one designed to lure you into the East Cork sunshine for the first major party of summer 2019.

Here are five things that make ITAV19 so much more than a music festival:

1. You get a cosy bed and a hot shower

If sweaty tents, portaloos and baby wipe baths are not for you, It Takes A Village is the only Irish festival that provides ticket holders with a real brick-and-mortar base for the weekend.

Festivalgoers live on-site in comfy holiday cottages equipped with everything from kitchens to full bathrooms and cosy bedrooms. No wellies required.

2. There are loads of cool activities to try

In between acts, you can roam the property with your mates, trying random activities such as go-karting, bowling, synchronised swimming, crazy golf and five-a-side soccer. Just grab a map, pack your togs and a towel and head off on a mini adventure.

Don’t forget to visit the Birds of Prey Educational Centre, where you can see your Dr Doolittle dreams come true and get up close and personal with real life falcons, owls, and hawks.

3. It’s a feel-good festival

As well as jaw-dropping views over the rolling Atlantic, ITAV19 is home to all the little treats you need to ensure a blissful few days of relaxation as well as partying.

Expect plenty of veggie, vegan and health-boosting food alongside the pizza and barbecued burgers (last year the fresh juice and salad selection was off the charts) and swing by the sauna to gently soothe away last night’s toxins.

4. There’s a pool party and a bash on a boat

It doesn’t get better than bobbing about in a warm swimming pool as a DJ spins vinyl guaranteed to soothe away your hangover. Once you recover you can fling yourself down the water slide and play with the wave machine.

If you’re a fan of the high seas, book your ticket for the Boat Party (captained by Bon Voyage, Los Angeles’ Shamon Cassette & DJ Arveene, and Nialler9 here.

5. There’s story as well as song

As well as the top notch musical acts, some of the biggest names in spoken word will also be performing on stage at ITAV19.

From authors Kevin Barry and Lisa McInerney to Culture Vultures and The Point of Everything podcast, grab a seat in a darkened room and let your imagination run free – it’s a virtual feast of Irish chat and storytelling.

This year there’s also slam poetry and spoken word with Cormac Lally’s Under the Hammers. Guests include Julie Goo, Stan Notte and The Lost Gecko, Scene of the Rhyme, and Wasps V’s Humans.
