This is Willow. After six months in foster care, she’s looking for a forever home

By Yay Cork January 31, 2019January 31, 2019

She arrived at the shelter tired, scared and skinny.

Like many of the abandoned dogs they rescue every year, the staff at Dog Action Welfare have no idea why Willow the lurcher was covered in wounds and scars.

Just one year old, she had only ever slept on a concrete floor.

Despite a horrible start in life, Willow quickly got used to the comforts of her foster home, where she’s been learning the ropes of becoming a family pet since September.

Her wounds have healed, she’s gained weight and grown a healthy coat and now she’s ready to find a forever home where she can put the past behind her and be part of the gang.

DAWG’s Katie Hogan told us: “Willow is a typical bull lurcher with all the lovely gentle traits of staffies and lurchers, and is one of the most loyal young dogs you will ever meet.

“She is only about a year old so would prefer to have someone around a lot. She becomes very attached very quickly and would do anything to just sit on your lap and look at you!”

Willow adores other dogs and children but she is very strong and boisterous so kids over eight who can cope with her exuberance would be ideal.

“Sweet Willow is just starting to learn, to trust and to love.” adds Katie. “All she needs is some help on the journey, some time to settle and a commitment that you will never leave her. You will get back Willow’s huge heart, total devotion and a friend for life.”

If you think you might be able to give Willow a forever home, click here or call 083 171 4307. Home checks are carried out to ensure that every Cork DAWG resident goes to a suitable home.
