This charity needs pet food donations for dogs going hungry during the Covid-19 crisis

Everyone’s trying to get by right now.
But while we’re all isolated indoors for the time being, a Cork organisation is asking that you add a small extra purchase to your weekly grocery shop.
St.Vincent De Paws, a group that chips in to help rescues and shelters by providing food and basic items in order to free up their limited finances to pay for vet care, is organising a socially-distanced pet food collection this Sunday, May 10th, 2020.
The collection is in honour of the group’s mascot, Suzie the Jack Russell, a rescue pup who sadly passed away in April.

St.Vincent De Paws also supply pet food to the city’s homeless, many of whom sleep rough because their dogs aren’t allowed in sheltered accommodation, and people who cannot afford to feed their pets because they are out of work or struggling with health issues.
“We are doing a socially distant food collection on May 10th in aid of Cork Penny Dinners.” Susie Jones told Yay Cork.
“Not only do they feed people but they also help the animals that belong to these people and they help families that have pets that can’t afford to keep them.”
“For some people, a cat or a dog is all that they have. We help feed them so they don’t have to give it up.”
How can I help?
On Sunday, May 10th, St Vincent De Paws volunteers will be accepting donations of wet and dry cat and dog food and treats at the following car parks:
- LIDL Ballincollig 2.30pm -3.30pm
- LIDL Ballyvolane 2.30pm -3.30pm
- ALDI Passage 2.30pm -3.30pm
- SUPERVALU Togher 12.30pm -1.30pm
Just place your donation in the bin provided and the St Vincent De Paws volunteers will sanitise all the boxes and packages before they are distributed to people who need them. They do not accept cash donations.
