These chefs bake their burger buns in a pizza oven (then stuff them with meat and chips)

It’s that time of the week again.
And if you’re beginning to ponder your takeaway options for Naughty Night, there’s an entirely new type of burger to try on French Church Street.
It’s all happening at Bella Napoli, which opened in March, a pizzeria run by Kerry native Don O’Connor and Italian chefs Luca Iacomino, from Naples and Antonio Bacani.
While they specialise in mouthwatering authentic Neapolitan pizza, fans have been raving about the trio’s Italian street food, especially the puccia, a traditional type of Italian sandwich bread from the Salento and Taranto regions of Puglia.

Made from pizza dough, puccia is crisp on the outside, light and chewy on the inside and usually stuffed with sandwich fillings (ideal if you’re dropping by for lunch) but it also makes for a mean burger bun.
The Bella Napoli crew bake their homemade puccia burger buns in the pizza oven daily. The best way to try it is by ordering the Italian Style Beef Burger; an 8oz patty, shredded lettuce, tomato, grilled vegetables, pancetta, smoked scamorza cheese and fries… all loaded into puccia bread.
There’s also a lamb burger, slathered in Greek yogurt and mint dressing, feta cheese and grilled veggies, not forgetting the essential fries.
Bella Napoli opens at noon and you can place an order via Deliveroo. Our advice? Go all out and add in a Nutella Pizza for dessert.
