There’s a crime-themed book festival coming to Spike Island in 2022

We all love a good murder mystery.
In the dark, wet, isolated corridors of Spike Island prison once lived thieves, murderers, bandits, and enemies of the State. Now, the spooky historical site will host a brand new literary festival that is sure to send your spidey senses tingling as you explore its mysteries.
Next year, the Spike Island Literary Festival will see a variety of author talks and workshops on the popular genre of crime come to the island, with festival-goers, aspiring writers, and crime fanatics getting to meet literary agents, and garner valuable advice from experienced publishers.

Attendees will also enjoy a special tour of the site, hear the new details on the lives of former inmates, and get to explore parts of the prison that are usually off-limits to the everyday visitor.
The festival is due to take place in the latter half of 2022 and is currently seeking sponsorship and funding from the Arts Council of Ireland and Cork City Council. Find out more on the Spike Island website here.
