Sun seekers enjoying the stunning views of the city at Bell’s Field on the Old Youghal Road were treated to an extra special event as a romantic proposal unfolded before them.

Ali, who is visiting from New York, had planned to pop the question to his girlfriend Maha, who is from Toronto and studying medicine at UCC, where she just graduated.

Ali had secretly arranged for Jannik of Save the Journey Photography to find them at the stunning location and offer to take some graduation photos of Maha to mark the milestone.

Little did she know, a huge surprise was just around the corner.

“The plan was for me to pretend like I’m just a photographer taking some sunset shots and that he would come up to me and ask a kind stranger to take some belated graduation photos of his girlfriend, as they didn’t get around to it earlier in the day,” Jannik told Yay Cork.

“By sheer coincidence, just as I was hovering around them, waiting for Ali to approach me, she mentioned what a shame it was that they didn’t get any graduation photos earlier.

“It was the perfect cue for Ali to jump up and approach me and for me to pretend like I had no clue what was going on.”

That’s when the video starts; grab some tissues because it’s a moment:

“This proposal was quite public and had the whole crowd cheering and clapping!” added Jannik.

“We followed up the proposal video with a lovely couple shoot. After everyone else had congratulated the couple and even come up to airdrop their own video footage.”
