The pull of the nomadic lifestyle is real.
Ever since travel was curtailed at the start of the pandemic, the idea of packing up your belongings and hitting the open road has never been more appealing.
While tiny homes, portable dwellings and van refurbs are bringing the dream a little closer for people who want to live off-grid on the cheap, the latest concept in mobile housing is aimed at the higher end of the market.
The SPACE by iOHouse is a slick, modern luxury home that can be transported to any location of your choosing. It does not require external sewage, electrical or water systems and all heating, ventilation and other related living systems are integrated.
Firstly, let’s not beat around the bush when it comes to pricing; the iOhouse Space is €225,000 for the basic model and €350,000 for the full off-grid model.
However, if you’re a high roller who refuses to be bound by bricks and mortar, these homes fully equipped with furniture, appliances, and the necessary gadgets to control them. This includes a built-in kitchen, bathroom, heating and cooling systems and smart air ventilation with oxygen level control.
The project has been developed by the Stockholm-based design studio in collaboration with some of the world’s leading housing and technology specialists utilising state-of-the-art electronic solutions for modern homes.
“We are giving people an option to live in the places where this hasn’t been possible before, without losing any comforts of modern life.” sales manager Heliis Tiitma told Yay Cork.
“The Space offers you the most advanced conveniences of modern life with the smallest ecological footprint. Constructed from premium materials, the quality of the build and the nature-friendly design create a comfortable and environmentally sensitive living space.
“Our vision is to create high-quality sustainable buildings that blend with their surroundings and have a positive impact on the natural world.”
It’s all managed on your smartphone
Incredibly, it can all be managed at your fingertips through your smartphone and the house itself only takes 90 minutes to install on delivery.
“All aspects of the smart home technology have been carefully thought through and the SPACE provides all necessities required for a comfortable, stress-free living,” iOHouse say.
A truly all-inclusive smart home, it also comes fitted with everything you need to move in, from bedsheets to wine glasses.
The company has already had some enquiries from Irish buyers and believe it’s “only a matter of time” before the first SPACE arrives on these shores.
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled down in Barelycove this summer.
