The best puppy-friendly cafés, bars and restaurants in Cork, according to dog owners

Cork is becoming more dog-friendly by the day.
With community water bowls and treat jars a regular sight on cafe counters all over the county, Leeside businesses have finally accepted the idea that to love their customers is to embrace their canine companions too.
Members of the Facebook group People from Cork with their Dogs have been sharing their favourite pet-friendly spots around the city and county, each one tried and tested recently.
Chances are there are a few gems in there you may not have visited yet.
Here are 11 to check out:
SONFLOUR
“The guys at Sonflour on Castle Street love dogs!” said dog owner Juli Lein. “I bring mine all the time. They offer nice cakes and Italian coffee there.”

THE COFFEE SHOP, UILINN, SKIBBEREEN
“We have a big courtyard and have our regular furry friends who enjoy treats when they visit,” said Hailey Hunter.
Bring your furbabies down for a complimentary pup-accino.
THE KINGSLEY HOTEL
This was a popular suggestion among dog walkers who enjoy the scenic outdoor seating area and River walk. The hotel has launched a new Paws & Unwind stay designed to be enjoyed by human guests and their furry friends.
“I also saw them offering dog-friendly weekends so dogs may be welcome inside as well.”
THE CASTLE CAFÉ AT BLACKROCK CASTLE
“Just had a fab lunch out of doors at the café at Blackrock Castle.” said group member Margaret Horan.
“Really dog friendly, our fantastic waiter brought out a bowl of water for the dog and hot water bottles for the humans, the food and service were top-notch….highly recommend!”

THE MARINA MARKET
“If the pup isn’t used to coming into cafes, the Marina Market is a great place to start as it’s got the food and atmosphere and places to sit but without the tight quarters of a normal cafe or pub,” said Zoe Louise.
They even run puppy training classes on Saturdays – check their Insta feed for updates.
THE ANGLER’S REST
With plenty of green space outside and roomy seating areas for relaxing in over brunch or dinner, The Angler’s even supplies special comfy seats for their canine customers.
BLACKBIRD BALLYCOTTON
There’s nothing like a pint and a toastie after a bracing walk along the cliffs in Ballycotton. Canine compadres are welcome at Blackbird, a cosy pub with a large, comfortable outdoor area out the back.

CAFE MYO
Over on Pope’s Quay, furry friends enjoy as warm a welcome as human guests at MYO.
FIONNBARRA
This Douglas Street pub is famously dog-friendly, with water bowls out the back and head scratches aplenty inside.
“I remember seeing a dog in Fionbarra’s a few years ago, seated near the door, and he was absolutely the guest of honour with everyone going in and out. So lovely,” said Feena D
THE LOUGH CAFE
Craving a mocha after a few laps of The Lough? Head for The Lough Cafe with your pooch and kick back at an alfresco table for coffee and a snack. They have doggie treats at the counter for good boys and girls.
