Ska fans are getting their own big daytime party in Cork City

Book a babysitter.
Ska fans are being called to the dancefloor for an afternoon of brass, bouncing beats and plenty of skanking at The Ska Day Party in Cork.
The event promises a full-on celebration of ska in all its forms on Saturday, October 17th from 3pm to 8pm at Wilde on Oliver Plunkett Street, bringing together everything from classic Jamaican ska and reggae to the iconic two-Tone sound and modern ska punk.
Expect plenty of familiar favourites too, with tunes from the likes of The Specials, Madness, Toots & The Maytals and Reel Big Fish set to feature throughout the day.
Organisers say the aim is simple: good music, good vibes and a dancefloor that keeps moving.
And the atmosphere is set to match the music, with organisers promising plenty of checkerboard vibes, sharp ska style and a healthy dose of old-school attitude.
Wanna go?
Whether you’re a lifelong rude boy or rude girl, a fan of 2-Tone, or simply looking for something a bit different to do on a Cork afternoon, the event is shaping up to be a celebration of the music’s enduring ability to get people moving.
With brass-powered anthems, upbeat rhythms and feel-good energy promised throughout, attendees are being encouraged to skank, sing and let loose.
