Seaweed foraging AND cocktails? To East Cork for the perfect outdoorsy adventure…

September is a good time to try something new.
And if you appreciate a little reward on the other side of every new adventure, an upcoming seaweed foraging and cocktails class could be the ideal way to dip a toe into the wilderness.
Beach-Tails is happening at Inch Hideaway, an eco-sustainable campsite in Whitegate, East Cork on Sunday, September 10th.
Imagine a gathering that combines the primal pleasure of foraging with the sophisticated artistry of crafting cocktails. A realm where seaweed becomes more than just a slimy beach encounter—it transforms into a key ingredient in the creation of delightful drinks.
“As part of the amazing Feast – East Cork Food & Drink Festival we are hosting an excursion of the shores of East Cork with marine biologist and seaweed expert Frances Gallagher.” the Inch Hideaway crew announced on Instagram.

The fun field trip will include a little lesson on identifying and foraging edible seaweed and guests will learn how to infuse the taste of this ocean ingredient into their food.
The group will then enjoy a cocktail-making masterclass led by mixologist Shane Quigley.
Beach Tales Seaweed Foraging & Cocktails takes place from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, September 10th, 2023. Tickets are €40pp and you can book one by emailing inchhideaway@gmail.com.
