Rachel’s restaurant has been renamed ahead of a relaunch

It’s set to reopen on Thursday after months of refurbishment, but Rachel’s restaurant will no longer be called after celeb chef Rachel Allen.
This time, the Washington Street eatery will open its doors under a new name, Dwyer’s of Cork.
The original Dwyer’s of Cork factory opened its doors at the same location more than 150 years ago. At its peak, the company employed 3,000 people.
“Dwyers will offer a less formal dining experience in response to feedback from customers who said that they were looking for ‘casual dining’ in relaxed surroundings.” said Rachel Allen of the new venture.
“This will be reflected in the general ambiance as well as in the new menu offerings, which we are still finalising. We have lots of cosy nooks and crannies as well as some beautiful, historical artefacts all of which combines to create something totally new for
Cork.”
General Manager, Chris Weldon added “We have been working very closely with the Dwyer family who have very generously made some wonderful old memorabilia available, for display throughout the venue.”
We can’t wait to check it out.
