Now you can make your final journey in a sleek black motorbike hearse

Ever considered your final journey?
No, we hadn’t either, but a local hearse company has opened up an (under) world of possibilities when it comes to that last spin towards your eternal resting place.
As more people break from tradition to create funeral ceremonies that celebrate the life and personality of the deceased, these days, it’s absolutely fine to go your own way.
And in Cork, there’s a truly unique method of transport to get you there.
The Trike Hearse is the creation of Corkman Pat Noonan, a lifetime biker with a passion for “everything two or three-wheeled with an engine”.
Several years ago, Pat, who is from Ballyvolane, purchased a 1996 Ford Scorpio Ultima Hearse and a vintage 1988 Honda Goldwing Gl1500 Aspencade and began the process of combining the two vehicles.

The custom Trike Hearse, completed this year, boasts a professionally engineered chassis that affixes to the rear section of the hearse and to the reinforced frame of the Aspencade.
“At a biker’s funeral the customary show of respect and honour for a biker is in the forming of a cavalcade of motorcycles riding behind a traditional car funeral Hearse that is carrying the deceased to their final resting place,” Pat explains.
“Many years ago whilst attending a funeral of a very close biker friend I was at the back of the motorcycle cavalcade that came to a stop on the motorway.
“As I looked above the sea of motorcycle helmets towards the hearse in the distance it occurred to me that following a car hearse is not in fitting to one living a lifestyle lived around motorcycles.”

“I wanted to break from the traditional funeral hearse and set about custom building a Trike Hearse as a tribute to our loved ones and send them out in style on their final ride.”
We can’t think of a more heart-warming way to salute someone special.
