The humble mince pie has been given a hipster makeover in Kinsale… and this version will take you right back to your childhood.
St Francis Provisions opened their ovens this morning to reveal a neat stack of freshly baked Christmas poptarts in two flavours; festive mince pie and fig roll.
Warm, crispy and smothered in white icing, this Eighties throwback is pretty much perfection. In fact, it’s an enormous improvement on the box-flavoured, preservative-laden original.
Make no mistake; these babies are guaranteed to disappear fast so nab a table behind the arched windows on Short Quay, Kinsale to indulge this weekend.
Owner Barbara Nealon, who moved to the seaside town from San Francisco with her husband last year, also stocks a carefully curated range of gifts and home accessories so it’s a handy spot for finding gifts for family and friends too.
