‘Major works’ at Kent Station to disrupt train services in the coming days

Important news for commuters.
Iarnród Éireann has announced major engineering works to take place at Kent Station, starting on Saturday, October 16th.
The upgrades include a full replacement of the signalling system that covers the Kent Station area, as well as track works in the Cork rail tunnel, Mourneabbey and Rathpeacon.
According to Irish Rail, these changes will “enhance safety, improve performance and allow for future expansion under CMATS investment.”
As a result, there will be disruptions to the train schedule operating through Kent Station. Mallow to Cork services will be replaced by bus transfers between the 16th and 26th of October, and Cork to Cobh/Midleton services will be similarly replaced by bus transfers between the 23rd and 26th. The 06.15 Cork to Heuston train will also be cancelled for the duration of the works.
