Local artists will be playing live at this intimate Castle Street gig

It’s already tricky to get a table at the weekend.
But now there’s another reason to plan a visit to Sonflour, the little Italian ristorante on Castle Street.
Late last month, the restaurant announced a new item on the sustainably-sourced menu- an acoustic monthly gig featuring local artists and musicians called ‘Music from the Sofa’.
The owners, mates Lorenzo Barba and Eugenio Nobile, always envisioned Sonflour as “a new place of community, dedicated to a process of continuous growth in the city, promoting cultural activities and events aimed for social and environmental awareness.”
Next month, Galway performer and composer Emily Donoghue will take to the couch for another edition of Music from the Sofa to celebrate the restaurant’s first birthday.
“Kaleidoscopic sounds and a fierce passion for detail have defined the 26-year-old’s musical path thus far,” said the restaurant owners on Instagram.
“Gigging nationally and abroad from the age of 12, Donoghue currently splits her time working as a touring session musician with various bands (TOUCAN, Billow Wood, Paddy Dennehy).”
You can expect a full set filled with folk classics and soulful melodies from the artist: “Freshly back from a six-week German tour, she will be playing a set of soul and folk classics along with some unreleased originals that have emerged over the last few years.”

The gig starts at 9pm on Thursday, December 1st. Walk-ins on the night will be accommodated but be sure to arrive early as capacity is limited.
