Trying to avoid the supermarket?

As the lockdown rumbles on, now is a great time to try out a grocery drop-off, especially if you’re cocooning or juggling work with childcare and homeschooling.

We now have more delivery options than ever in Cork and you can access the best of fresh produce, meat, vegetables and other items at the click of a mouse to have it delivered to your door.

It’s so convenient, you might never go back to the weekly trolley schlep.

Here are five Cork businesses to order from this week:

1. Stock the pantry

If you want to treat someone who is cocooning to a special delivery of delicious snacks and meal additions to fill the pantry during the lockdown, The Roughty Foodie in The English Market has just the thing.

Give them a call and fill a box with your choice of coffees, cheese, relish, local honey, fudge and chocolate, as well as a variety of other treats, and they’ll deliver any box over €75 within the city.

Call Margo on 087 6352415 to place an order.

2. Fill the fridge

McCarthy Meats offer free delivery on phoned-in beef, pork, lamb and poultry orders over €30. As well as fresh meat, they’ll also drop off vegetables, milk, bread and eggs so you can fill the fridge in one simple swoop while supporting a local business.

Call them: Bishopstown (021 434 62 18) and Gurranabraher (021 4211 383) to place an order or visit mccarthysmeatmarket.ie.

Ordered a contactless food order from @mccarthymeats – they have fabulous meat but also, milk, eggs, bread, vegetables – it’s free delivery for orders over €30 – which is an excellent service. It’s just so important to support local businesses. #supportsmallbusiness pic.twitter.com/C0FBiZ4YN9

3. Go organic

Looking for a steady supply of ingredients for those New Year smoothies and vegan recipes? Organic Republic has put an extra van on the road to cater for the huge increase in orders since the pandemic began. They deliver boxes of organic fruit and vegetables all over Cork city and suburbs on a weekly basis.

If you want to avail of the service simply send them an email with your name, delivery address, eircode, and a contact number and details of the box type you would like and they will get back to you with a delivery day and payment details.

Check out the box options and delivery schedule at organicrepublic.ie.
