Carrigaline’s newest coffee spot has secretly opened – and you can get in there today

Coffee lovers in Carrigaline, your time has come.
A brand new speciality coffee spot has quietly opened its doors in the village – and if you fancy being among the first to check it out, you can drop in today.
The new café, Kalo Coffee at Desmond House, comes from Alex and Rebecca Bruce, and if you’re serious about your coffee, you may already recognise Alex’s name.
Alex has been working in speciality coffee for almost 20 years and previously co-founded and operated SOMA, before stepping away from the business last year.

Now, he’s teaming up with his wife Rebecca for their first solo venture together.
The couple said they immediately saw potential in the Desmond House building, which they felt had plenty of charm, as well as an opportunity to create something they felt Carrigaline was missing: a dedicated takeaway coffee and retail space.
And getting it ready has been no small undertaking. The pair have completely gutted and rebuilt the space from the ground up, transforming it into their new café and retail venture.
Now, after all that work, the doors are finally open. There’ll be a selection of single-origin coffees, available both on the bar and to take home in bags, alongside a wide range of retail products from local suppliers.
The drinks menu will focus on traditional speciality coffee, with some more modern options and some matcha thrown into the mix.
