Hungry for something new?

If an evening of exciting cooking and fresh flavours sounds like your idea of a good time, follow the foodie folk up to Vikki’s in Sunday’s Well this weekend.

The Blue Haven and Cork’s Top Chef winner Pat Kiely of the famous (and sorely missed) Les Gourmandises Restaurant are staging the first in a series of Pop-Up Tapas evenings at the cosy, candlelit venue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.

Each night, guests will be presented with a choice of mouthwatering small plates, charcuterie and cheese boards, and decadent desserts.

A peek at the menu for this weekend reveals tempura of tender stem broccoli served with crispy parma ham and basil mayo, French onion soup topped with cheddar cheese croutons, and a miso and ginger braised pork belly to dunk in sweet and sour apple and peanut crumbs.

Vikki’s house Chicken Bun is an excellent call – it’s served with baby gem, tamarind date ketchup and chips. And there’s a tempting Malabar baked cod in the offing also, beautifully marinated in fragrant coconut masala and served with curry leaf mayo.

Plant-based diners are in for a treat; a roasted aubergine is served with crispy tofu, baby onions, confit tomato, and rocket salad, or there’s a wild mushroom pappardelle pasta slathered in a sage and Worchester cream sauce that deserves an excellent easy-drinking red to wash it down (you’re in good hands when it comes to wine at Vikki’s too).

Great vino tastes even better paired with good nibbles so order a board loaded with Gubbeen smoked cheese, cheddar and Carrigaline truffle cheese to share.

As for dessert, you probably won’t want to part with half of your vanilla panna cotta or Basque cheesecake so best to keep that all to yourself.

How can I book a table?

There will be a limited table release each night (booking is available online only – make a reservation here). The event returns on Thursday, February 17th so you can book ahead for next week too.
