Brought to you by The Blue Haven Collection.
Cork’s restaurant industry is on pause for the month.
But rest assured; in the kitchens of the Blue Haven Collection’s cafés and restaurants, all rings on the stovetop are blazing as their chefs and bakers fill a steady stream of takeaway and ‘click and collect’ orders for customers.
Here are three meals to treat yourself to in the coming weeks:
1. Pick up a picnic from The Old Bank House
Where: 11 Pearse Street, Kinsale
If you’re lucky enough to live within 5km of Kinsale, The Old Bank House is open seven days a week serving luscious hot chocolates, freshly baked cookies, delicious smoothies and tasty sandwiches.
The house-made pies are the perfect comfort food lunch (whether your picnic is at the Old Head or on a blanket on the living room floor) and there’s a selection of mouthwatering salads to enjoy on the side.
Kicking off with freshly roasted coffee and breakfast from 7.30am and serving right through until 4pm for takeaway, you can drop in or call ahead on 021 470 6090.
2. Let Vikki’s Wine & Tapas Bar cater a cosy night in
Where: Sunday’s Well, Cork City
Got a craving for tapas and wine? Just because the bars are closed, doesn’t mean you can’t indulge at home.
Options at Vikki’s in Sunday’s Well include wild mushroom and truffle arancini, baked brie with plum chutney or tempura prawn with wasabi mayo. Add in the wild boar and Gubeen cheese croquette and the chicken yakitori for a properly luxurious supper.
Vegans are well looked after for (try the miso-glazed tofu with a smoked almond crumb and cauliflower pakora with mint yoghurt), while meat-eaters rave about the Vikki’s Charcuterie Board – a glorious selection of Ballinwillin goat salami, bresaola, serrano ham, Ummera Smoked Duck, salami, olives and croutons.
Vikki’s is open on Wednesday to Saturday, 4pm to 9pm, with online ordering also available here. Call 021 4221729 for more information.
3. Enjoy a delicious dinner from Hamlets Street Food
Where: The Glen, Kinsale
Everyone has days when they just don’t feel like cooking. Happily, Hamlets Street Food at Home is open seven days a week so you can order up a mouthwatering dinner whenever the mood strikes. Choose from wood-fired pizzas, barbecue favourites, tacos, tostadas and Korean fried chicken, fresh from the Gourmet Food Truck.
Hamlets in-house mixologist is blending tasty cocktails to go – just pick up your favourite and serve in a chilled glass – and you can order wine and craft beers too. They even have a special menu for children so kids can join in the fun.
Hamlets is open seven days a week from 4pm to 9.30pm during Level 5 for takeout. Check out the full ‘click and collect’ menu at hamletsofkinsale.com or phone 021 477 2209 to pre-order.
